IN MEMORIAM: JACK FREELE 1953-2010

From The Salem News:

Jack Freele, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. He leaves his wife, Joan (Pingeton) Freele; his sister, Margaret Wilson; nephew, Zak Lindgren; and nieces, Diana Wilson and Anna Lindgren.

Raised in Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y., the son of Hugh W Freele and Margaret (Jones) Freele, he was a Sea Cadet and worked summers in Lake George on the sightseeing boats. He graduated Milne High School in Albany and the University of Massachusetts.

He and his wife Joan owned and operated The New England Rain Barrel Company. This was the fulfillment of his lifelong dream: to own a small business that also did some good in the world. Prior to this, he had a rich and varied career in business, most recently with Life is Good, Logowire, and CYRK Europe.

He was a lover of all sports, especially football and baseball, and became an avid Red Sox fan after moving to the Boston area in the 1970s. He golfed whenever he could despite the demands of the business, and loved to travel, especially to places a little off the beaten track. He was always there with a smile, a hug or a joke for his many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Cod Animal Care & Adoption Center, 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632; the American Cancer Society, 1-800-227-2345; or MassRecycle, 60 Thoreau St., #203, Concord, MA 01742.
